The brief is set to design a memorial to commemorate the sacrifices of the soldiers from World War II.
Set on the former site of Ford Factory, the structure has turned into a wartime museum, with the Surrender March that was significant to the surrender has seemingly been forgotten and neglected.
CONCEPT:
3 EMOTIONS: ANXIETY, DIMINISHED, PEACEFUL
1. ANXIETY
The war victims felt afraid when they first heard the news about Japan's plan to conquer Singapore.
2. DIMINISHED
When the Japanese ruled over Singapore, they belittled and tormented the war victims, driving them to inhumane and horrendous torture.
3. PEACEFUL
When the Japanese surrendered to the British in 1945, life started to became peaceful again, with many war victims returning to their families and a new phase began again.
